Root Xperia Z3: Quick And Simple Method You Can Do –  The Sony xPeria Z3 was announced and released in September, 2014. It has a bar-type form factor which measures 5.75 inches (H) x 2.83 inches (W) x 0.29 inch (T). It weighs in at a very light 5.36 ounces.

The Xperia Z3 has an In Plane Switching (IPS) LCD capacitive touchscreen display. It is capable of displaying 16M colors. The screen is 5.2 inches (approximately 70.9% screen to body ratio). It has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (424 pixels per inch density). The device has a scratch-resistant glass screen with water-resistant properties (Oleophobic). It has Sony’s proprietary Triluminos and X-Reality Engine features. The multi-touch screen supports 10 fingers.

The Xperia Z3 runs Android version 4.4.4. (KitKat) out of the box. IT can be updated to Android version 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has a 2.5GHz Krait 400 Quad Core Central Processing Unit (CPU) and a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset. Graphics is handled by an Adreno 330 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

The mobile has 3 gigabytes of RAM with 16 or 32 GB of internal memory. It has a dedicated MicroSD Card Slot which supports up to 256 GB of external memory.

For the photo buffs, the Xperia Z3 has a 20.7 megapixel Primary (Back Facing) Camera. The camera has an aperture of f/2.0 (25 mm). It also has an autofocus feature with LED Flash. This camera shoot videos with the following resolutions:

  • 2160 at 30 Frames Per Second (FPS)
  • 1080p at 60 Frames Per Second (FPS)
  • 720p at 120 Frames Per Second (FPS)

The Secondary (Front-Facing) has a resolution on 2.2. megapixels with an aperture of f/2.8. It can capture 1080p videos at 30 frames per second (FPS).

Root Xperia Z3: Using XperiaRoot

Reminder : You will lose your warranty once you root your Xperia Z3. As a precaution, it is always a good practice to backup all your data before you root Xperia Z3. To root your xPeria Z3, just follow the procedure below.

  1. Download XperiaRoot file from this link.
  2. Extract the file you downloaded.
  3. A folder called XperiaRoot will be created after extracting the zip file.
  4. Inside the XperiaRoot folder, click on the ALP folder.
  5. You will see four files inside the ALP folder : BusyBox, Recovery, Root and SuperSu.
  6. On your smartphone, create a folder and name it XperiaRoot.
  7. Transfer the four apk files from your computer to the XperiaRoot folder on your Xperia Z3.
  8. On your mobile phone, go to “Settings“, then “Security“.
  9. Allow “Unknown Sources“.
  10. Go back to the XperiaRoot folder on your mobile and tap on the Root.apk to install it.
  11. After installation, tap on the “Root” button.
  12. Wait for the process to finish.
  13. Similarly, install “BusyBox” and “Recovery” on your smartphone.
  14. Tap on the “Recovery” app to install “Recovery” on your mobile.
  15. Reboot your smartphone into “Recovery” mode.
  16. In Recovery mode, choose “Install” and select the “SuperSu.zip” from the XperiaRoot folder.
  17. After installation, reboot your smartphone.
  18. Look for the SuperSu app in your App drawer.
  19. You can check if you have root access by installing a root checker app from the Play Store.
