  • Now select Media Player in the home screen or in Library and press X
  • Now select Download and press X

  • Go to PC Settings >> Network >> Select the WiFi router you are using
  • Now set toggle beneath “Find Devices and Content” to “ON”
  • Now in “Network” click “HomeGroup” and set toggle for Music, Picture and Video to “ON”
  • Turn ON the toggle beneath “Let devices on my network stream my music and videos”

Now your PC or Laptop will be listed in the PS4 media player app and you can play media on PS4 of your choice. If you are using different OS, do follow the steps similarly on you system.

  • Select Media Player from home screen. Your USB storage device or DLNA media server on same network will be shown.
  • Select USB storage device or media server from which you want to play media on PS4 >> Press X
  • Select the media you want to play and press X
  • You can listen music while playing games or browsing web at the same time.

However you can check updated list of supported media formats anytime on the PlayStation website. It is notable that Microsoft Xbox one was also released with similar features as of PS4 without media playback support, but they added the feature very soon.
