Before you can jailbreak your PS3, you must have the following requirements:

  • 7Zip or any file achiever/extraction program.
  • USB flash drive with at least 256 free space
  • Your PS3 console (check compatible with this list)
  • The latest PS update from this link.
  • A computer running Windows.

Just follow the steps below to jailbreak your Playstation 3 console.

Step 1. Make sure your PS3 has the latest original firmware (4.81) by checking the system information.

Step 2. Confirm that your PS3 is in or compatible with this list (Check the serial on your console).

Step 3. Download the latest PS3 jailbreak firmware from this link.

Step 4. Extract the downloaded file to a folder on your computer.

Step 5. Copy the PS3 extracted file to the root of your USB flash drive. This folder holds the ps3 downgrade from official firmware 4.81 to official firmware 3.55.

Step 6. With your PS3 console off, plug in the USB flash drive.

Step 7. Turn on your PS3 console.

Step 8. On your PS3, go to “Settings” > “System Update” > “Update via Storage Media” > “Proceed“.

Step 9. Your PS3 console will now have 3.55 ofw. Turn off your device and remove the USB drive. Plug in the USB drive to your computer.

Step 10. Copy/Drag the “Update” folder from the PS3 folder on your computer to the USB drive. Let the files overwrite the existing ones. The USB drive now has 4.81 custom firmware (CFW).

Step 11. Plug the USB drive to your PS3 console and do Step 8 to update and install the custom firmware on your console.

Step 12. After updating, your console should now be running the latest custom firmware for the PS3. This means you have successfully jailbroken your PS3!
